Emmer Beer, Riedenburger Brauhaus, Germany

Last weekend I spent some time in Berlin and stumbled on something I never tried before: Emmer beer. Emmer wheat is a type of wheat that was massively cultivated in ancient times and is now a rather rare finding; in Italy it is also known as Farro.
This Emmer beer is brewed by Riedenburger Brauhaus located in Franconia not to far from the city Regensburg.
The beer tasted kind of yummy, similar to a full nut brown ale with a nice sweetness and spiciness. Something in there tastes a bit like Semolina but I’m not certain about that description. Also, Emmer is not the only grain used in that beer: Einkorn, spelt, barley and wheat-malt are also used in the concoction.
Definitely well made and interesting, something I’d like to try again!
